El Chaltén – Laguna Toro – Paso Del Viento – Glaciar Viedma – Cerro Mariano Moreno – Cerro Huemul – Paso Huemul – Bahía Cabo De Hornos Del Lago Viedma – Bahía Túnel – El Chaltén

We will trek among glaciers, lagoons and ice fields in Patagonia. At night we will set up camp under the stars. This trek is classed as intermediate/difficult and we will visit different places such as Laguna Toro, Viedma Glacier, Cerro Mariano Moreno and Cerro Huemul.

We believe that this experience is an ideal example of what can be done in the region. However, our idea is to adapt each proposal to the traveller’s specific needs. We are, therefore, willing to make all the necessary modifications and re quote it according to your interests.

Day 1: El Chaltén – Laguna Toro

You will meet your guide in the morning, with whom you will check your equipment with and talk about the details of the program. Near noon we will start our trek at El Chalten the trek will take about six hours with a slope of 500 mts; we will cross the Tumbado fold and will get to Laguna Toro at 650 mts. high. We will set up camp in this beautiful place.

Day 2: Laguna Toro – Paso Del Viento

We will start the day with a forty- minute walk until we get to Rio Tunel which we will cross by either wading it or by a zip-line depending on the weather conditions of that day. Once we have crossed the river, we will continue to Paso del Viento. During our walk we will stop at the Glaciar Tunel Inferior  from where we will observe part of the Patagonian Ice Field, the headwaters of Glaciar Viedma and Cerro Mariano Moreno, among other wonders of the area. We will go down to Paso del Viento Refuge, where we will finish our seven- hour Trek (with a slope of 900 mts.) and we will camp at 900mts high.

Day 3: Cerro Huemul – Paso Huemul

On our third day of trekking, we will go round Cerro Huemul on the east side until we reach Paso Huemul (1000 mts. high). From there we will be able to see the front of the Glaciar Viedma and the lake of the same name. It also may be possible if we are lucky to see condors flying nearby. The time of our journey will be around six to seven hours, during the journey we will enjoy a good view of Glaciar Viedma at all times. Finally, we will camp at Paso Huemul, a lenga forest placed at 900 mts. high.

Day 4: Bahía Cabo De Hornos Del Lago Viedma – Bahía Túnel – El Chaltén

On our last day, we will descend through a rocky and wooded very steep trail until we reach Bahia Cabo de Hornos del Lago Viedma located at 300 mts. high. From here, we will continue going down until we reach our goal, Bahia Tunel, a journey time walk of seven or eight hours in total, with a slope of 600 mts. From Bahia Tunel, we will be transported to El Chalten and our expedition will be concluded there.
